Week 2, Term 3
What a great start to the first week!
Thank you parents and caregivers for making sure your children are at school on time and that you have settled them before leaving. This makes a huge difference to our day when we can get straight into our learning.
Just a few things to know:
Golden Time is every Friday 1:30-2:00pm this is followed by school assembly.
Bakery lunches can be ordered from the school office at 8:30 Mon-Thursday.
Every Friday there is a sausage sizzle. This is $1:50 a sausage and $1:00 a frozen juice.
Orders are taken by the class teacher in the morning.
Steam Puddings on sale Thursday. Orders taken by class teacher. This is a delicious fundraiser!!
The children will bring home a reader each night for reading and they should be able to read 2 of the books a night from their 'collection' for the week.
The little word booklet has some common sight words that the class need to learn. This week our focus
was -I.
The poem of the week will also reinforce some of these common basic sight words so please go over also. The book bag needs to be returned each day. I will send it home in the weekend also.
( so you can get extra reading and word practice in!!)
We refer to the word booklet in reading sessions so please make sure it is left in the book bag.
Library day is Monday afternoon.
Our aerobics sessions are Mon-Wednesday in the hall.
Below are some photos of our time in the sandpit for Golden Time.
Next week the children will be icing biscuits, I have the icing and biscuits but if you would like to contribute some sprinkles or chocolate hail, that would be appreciated :-)
Have a good week,
Bernie Hall

Week 1, Term 3
WEEK ONE TERM 3
Teacher Only Day Monday!
Welcome to Room 10! I am Bernadette Hall (Bernie) and I look forward to working with your child and helping them on their learning journey.
On arrival at school please meet Mr Macmillan at the office, David will bring new families over to room 10.
This week the class will be introduced to the 'golden rules' that our school follow. This is a positive behaviour programme that reinforces taking responsibility for our actions and being kind towards others.
We will also start our literacy and numeracy programmes- looking at letter sounds and names and counting forwards and backwards from 10, making sets of 5.
Room 10 will have some orientation of the school grounds and learn where they can play, find the water fountains, toilets, hall, sandpit, library and room 10!
We will be establishing class routines and group rotations over the next few weeks. The children will be introduced to visual prompts that will help them remember what is happening and what is coming up next.
Your child will bring home- reading book/s each night and a poem, a numeracy or literacy activity each week and a basic words booklet.
Please encourage reading and looking through the word book each night as this will help build their letter sound and word knowledge.
Regarding lunch and morning tea...remember lots of small snacks in easy to access containers are easy for little learners to handle! Also lots of water.
Father Mark's farewell is Wednesday at 10:00am in the school hall. All welcome!
Below are some photos of room 10 students first day at school.
There were a few tears (naturally) but I was impressed with how quickly the children settled in.
WELCOME CHILDREN!
Your child's home book will be sent home each night and needs to come back each day in the school book bag. Please check it for class notices and your child's activities.
On Tuesday I will send home a class letter with information about what is happening this term and my contact details.
Have a great week,
Bernie
